Dozens of schoolchildren found bunking off school in Donegal

first_imgSchool absenteeism cases on Tusla’s national waiting list have surged in Donegal in the last two school terms, it has emerged. Figures obtained show that (12) a dozen school-aged children who were not in school have been referred to Tulsa over absenteeism this term alone. The figures come as it was revealed that 108 referrals were made to the child and family agency for the school year 2018-2019. It is understood that 65 of the Donegal schoolchildren were allocated to an Educational Welfare Officier (EWOs) while 17 were placed on a waiting list. The remaining 26 were not assigned to EWOs because they were aged 16 or over or under six.A spokesperson for Tulsa told Donegal Daily: “All referrals are screened in line with our process, and those that do not meet the referral criteria would not be placed on a waiting list.”National figures in a recent report show that Tusla’s Educational Welfare Service (EWS) had 2,636 referrals on its waiting list. The figure has been climbing steadily since last October and the comparable figure from April 2018 was 1,670 cases. It is understood the numbers, released by Tulsa, is due to the rising numbers of homeless children, insufficient numbers of staff, and increasingly complex cases such as students with mental health issues and special needs.Dozens of schoolchildren found bunking off school in Donegal was last modified: October 14th, 2019 by Staff WriterShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:SCHOOLlast_img read more

However, it has been a while since he turned his back on fashion for acting. The 31 year old graduate from NIFT has already made a loud enough splash in Bollywood thanks to his role as Ricky, the drug peddler in Dum Maro Dum. With his next film, Shaitan, set to release in June, Devaiah will be back in Bangalore to promote the film as well as to perform in his favourite play, Butter and Mashed Banana.Personal style: He might have sported a tattoo and worn colourful clothes on screen, but in real life he’s all for subtle sophistication. Personal style is most important. “I saw some lovely fabric recently and decided to make some summer pants for myself,” he explains.Mumbai Vs Bangalore: I miss mom, dad and India Coffee House from Bangalore but otherwise I love it here in Mumbai, except during IPL when I’m ready to run off to Bangalore.Style quotient: On the effect of Bollywood on his style of dressing he says, “Nothing really, I’ve lost a bit of weight, thanks to long shooting hours followed by absolute joblessness, so things fit me well now. I always take time to dress and change my mind at the last hour. Almost as bad as most women”.Brand master: An intelligent mix and match of brands and casual wear keep him going. “I love Zara and H&M. I also love Paul Smith and Tom Ford, but I can’t afford them, just too expensive,” he says disarmingly. On his trip to Greece recently, he floored his to-be in-laws with “pants that I made and black suede boots that I bought from Linking Road”.On the spotadvertisementSiddhartha Mallya, the smiling happy cherub, also known as Deepika Padukone’s boyfriend, can be quite a brat as seen at a high-end salon, located at UB City recently. Mallya junior was unhappy with his hair cut and was seen grumbling about how ‘they either cut it too short or too long, and wondering how they get their licence.Pillows signed by Shah Rukh KhanShahrukh Khan on the other hand had probably forgotten his hair gel at home, what with the new floppy haired look. He chose to skip the IPL party but remembered thoughtfully to leave a signed pillow for the staff of the ITC Gardenia where he stayed to thank them for their warmth.Bangalore might have been a famous English Cantonment, but we still thought it was strange when Karan Johar, who is incidentally the ambassador for British Tourism exclaimed that he was more familiar with London than Mumbai when he was in town for the launch of Visit Britian campaign. He added for good measure, “And, of course I do all my shopping in London.”last_img read more
